Ah, so you've stumbled upon our happy lil' site, eh? Well, before you get started, let's first go over:
THE RULES
RESPECT
Respect the other people on the site. We’re not asking you to be friends with every person on the board, but at least make an effort to try and be nice. Don’t start fights in General or anywhere else. If you have a problem with someone, keep it off the site and take it onto MSN or Skype. We don’t want to see it.
POSTING RULES
Absolutely no God-modding. I personally cannot stand it, and if I catch you doing it expect a lecture. A long, drawn out, three page lecture. I hate writing them as much as you’ll hate reading them so just don’t do it and save us both a head ache, mmk? First around you will get the longest lecture you will ever receive in PM form. Second warning is a three day ban. Third is a permanent ban because you obviously haven't learned your lesson the first two times.
As for posting order, try to find one and keep at it. Just because someone hasn’t posted for a day doesn’t mean that the thread has died. Be patient and give them at least a week or shoot them a PM before skipping over them.
As for word count, try to keep posts upward of 250 words. Give whoever you are RP-ing with something to go off of for their next post. A single paragraph, isn’t a whole hell o a lot to go on in terms of muse.
CBOX
Don’t misuse the cbox. Do not start fights and please, for the love of all that is right with the world, keep the talk at a PG-13 rating. Not only is it a part of Proboards Terms of Service, but not all members may be of legal age to see or hear it. If you misuse the cbox, there will be consequences. We’ll warn you to sit down and shut up at first, but after that it’ll be a three day ban from cbox. Do it again and you lose your cbox privileges. If enough people start fights on cbox, we can and will take it away. We won’t be happy, but we’ll do it.
TRY TO BE ACTIVE
Try to be active. We don’t expect you to be on ever day, all day, all week long. Try to post at least once every two weeks. If life throws you a curve ball and you find yourself unable to post and need to take a break from the site, then put up a post in Absences to let everyone know you’ll be gone for a bit.
BE PATIENT
If you’re waiting to be accepted, please, please, PLEASE be patient. We Admins are not on the site 24/7. We can’t get to every profile right away. It may take more than a few days for us to get around to it with our daily lives getting in the way. We will work through them as quickly as we are able, so don’t send us fifty billion trillion PM’s or spam the cbox asking us to look over them. It’ll only make us angry. And then you’re profile will sit there. Forever. Because we’ll hate you.
NO SPAMMING
Don’t spam. Or the flying monkeys will come and find you.
NO MYTHICAL/FANTASY CREATURES
Technically, characters on the board on in the possession of some supernatural power. However, we’d like to keep characters, for the most part, human. That means no vampires, fairies, angels, demons, werewolves, gnomes, elves, ect. If you have a power that is, say, inspired by a mythical of fantasy creature, then you are certainly allowed to use it. Just don’t make your character anything more than a gifted human and we’re good.
NO WHINING
You don’t have to like the rules or how things are run but don’t bitch about them. It doesn’t help anything and it only makes you look like a five-year-old troll. If you have a legitimate suggestion or question, then feel free to post it up over in Questions & Suggestions. But please. No whining. Whining makes me break out the chainsaws.
CHARACTERS
Do not Mary-Sue/Gary-Stu around here. I will hunt you down.
Very overused and obvious signs of a Sue can be a number of different things. The most overused are usually dead parents, being an expert at many different talents that would take years to master, being indescribably beautiful, being kidnapped or tormented because they are so pretty, twins, looking like a mythical creatures (elf, fairy, ect.) although they are only human and so on. PLEASE NOTE: It is not one of these things that makes a Mary Sue but many of them combined.
Also, no more than six characters to a person, just to keep things simple and to keep overcrowding to a minimum. You must have separate accounts for all your characters. The password for character applications this month is Jambalaya.
Rogues and Monsters aligned with The Duke will require an approval from The Duke plus one other staff member.
ACCOUNT NAMES
Please have your account name match that of the character belonging to it. Having mismatched names is just a tad bit confusing.
LITERACY
Please try and obey the rules of grammar and double check your spelling. We understand if English isn’t your first language or if you have dyslexia or something, but at least try to be literate and grammatically correct.
